Rebuilding the Alte Forsterei?

  • Will Union still be playing at the Alte Forsterei? Last I heard they were moving to the Olympiastadion for 2024-25 season. But google searching - can't find any mention of it. Was hoping to get tickets for next season, but if they're still in Kopenick... not a chance. Please let me know... Danke

  • Union will move to the Olympiastadion earliest in summer 2025 for one season and will then partly reopen the Alte Försterei with the full capacity available by the end of 2026.

But there are still some infrastructure problems to solve and a lot of construction work is going on in Köpenick. So, the district Treptow-Köpenick wants Union to pay for a tram turnaround loop (some 12 million €) and that’s very unusual and of course Union doesn’t want to pay. But this loop is a requirement for the enlarged capacity of the Alte Försterei.

So, there are rumours going on, that the rebuilding measures can finally start in 2028 when the loop and railway station Köpenick are finished.

Thank you for confirming... So I guess my next trip to see Union will have to wait. At least I got to the Braga game last season. Good luck Union with the stadium re-build. Sounds like a lot of hurdles to overcome.

    UNVEU.

If you can be somehow spontaneous, on match day/the day before, there are some tickets offered in this Forum. Good luck, the atmosphere at the Alte Försterei is waaaay better so worth trying to go.
