Not had time to come back on here since my visit to Berlin last week, still better late than never...

A weird experience going to football by walking through a shopping centre than forest to get to the ground but was enjoyable for all of that. You'll be glad to hear that I had a beer in my hand the whole time to keep my fluids up in the heat. The ground is brilliant as it's set up for the best fan experience from the friendly service in the ticket office and helpful stewards to the little details around the ground from personal signs around the ground to beer and grilled sausages that can be enjoyed in full view of the pitch.

Went to the Abseitfalle bar for a few pre game beers where I met up with fellow Palace fans. No one gave us hassle even though it's your supporter clubs bar. In the ground I was really impressed with the build up to the game from you the Union fans. It was really appreciated by us Palace fans that the club also played 'Glad All Over' as part of the build up to make us feel at home. The game was enjoyable apart from the ref and your two goals. :D Would have been good if we could have celebrated a goal for all of us Palace fans efforts in getting to the game. If we come back can you arrange this please. ;)

After the game we went to a beer garten about 10 minutes from the ground where Palace and Union fans had a sing off for what must have lasted for a solid 2 or 3 hours. We were made to feel really welcome from all the union fans I spoke to. A great day and what going to football should be all about. All the best for the coming season, I'll keep an eye out for your results.

Cheers, PhilBerlin and the rest of you. Like Jabo says we know Hofbrauhaus is a tourist trap but people wanted a large space to meet up in the city centre. I certainly want to try a few different places during my visit and will certainly try a few of your suggestions.

The group I'm with know one or two Union fans so are planning on drinking near to the ground on Saturday so hopefully will bump into one or two of you. Us Palace fans are mostly a friendly bunch and always up for sharing a beer or two.

    don't know if this German article has been posted but just in case;

Anyway, better go and pack as on a flight early tomorrow.

If anyone can live stream the game next Saturday you will be a hero in South London evermore. The last guy who did this, for the Philidelphia Union friendly last season, got his flight paid for him from the US to London by us fans to see Palace play.

    I know I'm asking for a lot.

    Hi Eiserne,

Just one week before the game where our biggest ever signing, Yohan Cabaye from PSG, should be playing. His signing in England has been big news and Palace are now being reported as a club going for European football; Us Palace fans do not believe the hype though we still believe that staying in the league is our first aim and a cup run would be a bonus. We're already in Europe anyway playing a club that reflects it's support in a great city. Can't wait. Will be special.

Hopefully my stay is a little more welcoming than a stay with the Stasi.

my thinking for staying in Friedrichsfelde is that I want to stay in East Berlin, has good rail links and the hotel is cheap. More money for beer!

In the Crystal Forum there are some questions about the ticketing. When are tickets available to the away side, which are the distribution channels and will there be the option to get a ticket at the stadium on matchday. Anyone here who got further information on those issues?

Our owners have justed posted on that thread saying that we'll have a total of 2500 tickets so should be able to pay on the day but can buy in advance from the UB ticket office from next week.

"My" Dutch wonder if the Crystal Palace comes with the A-team, because they play at 15.7. already plays against Arsenal in the Premier League and on 22.7. against Aston Villa. White as a more?

Think we'll play most of our first team squad as it is currently the first game for the team after getting back together for pre season training. Their next game is a week later as they play in a tournament in South Africa. I expect Palace to announce one or two more friendlies before the PL season starts on 8/8.

agree; "the argument against berlin beers" just concerned the three commodity-style beers mentioned above. there may be smaller, younger breweries which are worth trying.

I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to beers as I have the odd share in a brewery called Brewdog and so am interested in more specialist beers. let me know which bars are good for wide selection of different beers. I will certainly check them out.

A hearty welcome to the English guys! You remind me of my Trip to England about five years ago. I had made a road trip along the South Coast, via Dover to Southampton and back to London. I can remember I stayed a night in Brighton those days and attended matches at Crystal Palace (vs. Derby County) and Charlton Athletic (vs. MK Dons). I fell in love with Selhurst Park and especially Shaun Derry. He reminded me very much of our own Number 4 at that time, Marco Gebhardt. @Palace AW encourage everyone you know to come to our stadium. I have felt the spirit at your ground and can promise you won't be disappointed of ours.

    Cheers! :beer

    Cheers U4D' ;)

All that I've read and heard suggests that the two clubs have a fair bit in common. When you came to Selhurst for the Derby game Palace were in a real state of decline and soon after almost went bankrupt. With the club about to be no more fans demonstrated outside the ground and in the City of London Business district to save the club. Still not as impressive as the fans building much of their own stadium and giving blood to finance it. That's one of the main reasons why this fixture is popular with many Palace fans. Think we'll bring a good number who should be up for a few beers and a good sing song. We are a pretty good bunch as well, can see the two sets of supporters getting on with each other.

As been ,entioned recently, the Abseitsfalle is the place to be before and after the match. unfortunately, we wittnessed some harsh behaviour towards other club's supporters lately. as a recommendation it is vital to get in contact with some of our lads…

thanks for for the info Matar. Like certain bars near to most grounds, you have to treat the locals with respect.

Mir war mal so als wenn die Fans in England sitzen müssen. Und sogar nach einem Torjubel recht schnell von den Ordnern gedrängt werden sich wieder zu setzen. Das sieht jetzt aber anders aus. ?( ?( ?(

Firstly can I apologise for not answering in German...

All English grounds in the top 2 divisions have to be all seater by law. Most clubs are strict on fans remaining sitting which has seriously effected the atmosphere at most English games. At Palace we have an ultras group called the Holmesdale Fanatics who combine the ultra style with that of traditional English support. By doing this they are the leading ultras group in England and as such refuse to sit. This has had a knock on effect as other fans wish to stand as well meaning their are several sections of our ground that now stand which is rare for English grounds. Luckily we have understanding owners at Crystal Palace.

That said there is a growing demand across the country for standing sections but this gets complicated with history and politics getting involved...

... I'll return to the English Forum now.

Haha! When you've supported Palace as long as I have you have to have a laugh and a beer to get through the pain and suffering of following the club.

Now this FASSBRAUSE, Is it like fine wine? Should it be savoured and not rushed?
