Not bad, basically. I think U.N. made an initial mistake by putting too much pressure on Glinker with Höttecke leading to mistakes and not an improvement in his form (which I think is what he wanted). But both came out of it pretty well by the end.
Stuffi and Gohlert were usually dependable and Madouni imrpoved a hell of a lot. I like him. Menz proved to be an excellent right back, which was unexpected, but am surprised to see Thomik go because he was consistent. I suppose with with Quiring and now Zouundi we dont need him any more though.
Kohlmann was as good as ever, man of the season again for me, and Parensens injuries were the heartbreakers. When they are together on the left they are fan-bleedin-tastic.
Peitz though (and i know that nobody agrees with me on this, so sorry) was never good enough. He has a heart like a lion (playing with broken nose, always chasing etc), but in no way is he a bundesliga player. He simply can not pass the ball. Union are better off without him, he was responsible for a lot of the negative play we saw because everyone had to drop that bit deeper in search of the ball. I think Karl will be much more effective. Tusche spent too much time covering up peitzs mistakes, in my opinion, but was still among Unions best players. And who will forget THAT free kick?
Kolk will come good, but he needs to be fit (and not get any more stuopid suspensions- the one where he applauded the ref for a 2nd yellow was brainless and he missed the next 3 games). Karim was underused, but when he did play was stuck out on the right for a lot of the time. It was tough for him, but i think he has reached his limit.
Ede would be amazing, then rubbish, then amazing twice and then rubbish again. Mosqera frustrates, but i can see how he links up play and holds the ball up. He just needs to score more goals!
So, effectively, with the injury problems, I thinkm it was a success. Staying up was the key, and U.N. delivered it early. I'd like to see him be more attacking away from home, but he did what he had to to get the points to stay up inthend. He now has the makings of a squad that, injuries permitting, can really go for a finish in the top half of the table this year. It wont be easy though, we just need a bit of patience.
